The Soap Hour: The Light of Her Eyes

The Soap Hour poses a paradox that every involuntary exile has faced. Is your identity forged in the day to day life around you, or is it to be found in the memories, emotions and history that you carry within you – memories whose expression is to be found in the radio dramas that captured a generation and in the songs that so powerfully evoke another time and place?

Featuring George Drennan, John Kielty, Catriona Grozier and Clare Waugh.

One of the best plays I have seen at Oran Mor. All the actors were superb.

Brilliant. Absorbing and amazing. The story of real life tragedy presented on top of the melodrama of a radio soap opera.
Cleverly staged and seamlessly interweaving music that would have been worth the ticket money alone. What a multi-talented cast !
Shame it’s not touring. The house was full but there’s a bigger audience for theatre this good.
