A man is visited by three ghosts of Conservative past in this hilarious political spin on a Dicken’s classic.
After 100 years, Edmund is going to be the first member of the Melville family to switch party allegiances. He isn’t sure who he is going to vote for, but it won’t be ‘them’…at least that’s the plan the night before polling day.
But when the clock strikes midnight, Edmund is visited by three ghosts of the last political century who take him on a whistlestop tour of the Tory party to bring him back into the fold and ensure their party will survive another 100 years.
Party Of The Century is a hilarious satirical comedy about a man who is visited by ghosts of Conservative past, reflecting on how the party has changed (or not at all) over the years.
ROSS MACKAY plays have been performed across Scotland and his adaptation of Treasure Island premiered to 5-star reviews at Cumbernauld Theatre. Ross was previously the artistic director of Tortoise in a Nutshell. His productions toured across the world. His shows have received numerous prestigious awards including a Scotsman Fringe First for New Writing and a Critic’s Pick from The New York Times. In 2020, Ross was the recipient of the William Soutar Award for Poetry and a Tom McGrath Trust Maverick Award. His debut novel for children and debut picture book were released in 2022 in both the UK and USA.
JOE DOUGLAS has made a baker’s dozen of shows at PPP, including The Body Electrician, Hello In There, Call of the Wild, McGonagall’s Chronicles, Fat Alice and Videotape. Most recently at PPP, he co-wrote and performed in The Peace Piece, a faux podcast about the Israel-Palestine conflict. His theatre directing without pies includes Dear Billy (NTS), The Cheviot, the Stag and the Black, Black Oil (Dundee Rep) and Arabian Nights (Lyceum). He is the former Artistic Director of Live Theatre in Newcastle and was Associate Artistic Director at Dundee Rep.
