By Peter Arnott | Directed By Ken Alexander
Cast: Tom McGovern
Winter 1919. Thomas Barclay is transported back in time by his memories of the night when he was the Signalman who sent the Edinburgh/Burntisland train onto the Tay Rail Bridge 40 years before. Who is responsible when accidents occur? Why is there a difference between what we feel and what we know? Why do we need somebody to blame…even if it’s ourselves?
Peter Arnott is a playwright and novelist whose hit from A Play a Pie and A Pint, Janis Joplin: Full Tilt has been widely performed since 2013. His other plays here include The Genesis Rock from the very first season, and the double bill of sisters Isabel and Morag from 2016. His latest play, Tay Bridge has just closed at Dundee Rep. The Signalman is his 49th new play produced in Scotland since 1985.
Presented in association with The Traverse Theatre.
