Accessibility

Access statement

At PPP we are working on making our programme accessible to as many people as possible. Doing this properly will take time, and we acknowledge that access barriers look different to different people, meaning nothing is truly fully accessible for everyone.

We think providing the most transparent and comprehensive information will allow audience members to make decisions about what is and is not accessible. This page will never be exhaustive, so please contact info@playpiepint.com, call 0141 357 6208, or contact us on social media (@playpiepint) to let us know how we can help you. Please bear in mind that we are limited by three things:

  • We are a very small team, with finite capacity.
  • Our venue is leased to us, and we do not have full control of the decisions made regarding any changes to the building.
  • We, like many of you (and the arts industry as a whole), work with very limited financial resources.

Our hope is to increase our budget line for access in the future, and this will improve the options we will be able to make available. We are also planning further training for our staff in this area. This is a work in progress, and we think approaching these changes must be made with the attention and confidence they deserve.

Website

We recognise that our website needs adjustments, and we have plans for its overhaul when we have the capacity and budget. Please let us know if there are areas that are confusing, or don’t work with your screenreader, and we will try and fix these issues where we can. If you ever have any questions or comments about our website, please email info@playpiepint.com, call 0141 357 6208, or contact us on social media.

Buying Tickets

Tickets are available online through Ticketweb up to 11am on the day of the performance, or in-person at the box office in the entrance lobby of Òran Mór from 12m every day except Sundays. You can also buy tickets over the phone from the Òran Mór Box Office during its opening hours by calling 0141 357 6200.

The Box Office, managed by Òran Mór, does not currently have a loop system installed.

We respect the need for companion tickets, and these can be requested by contacting info@playpiepint.com at least 24 hours before the performance. We are in the office Monday-Friday and part of Saturday, so please get in touch by Friday afternoon for a Monday performance. We are working on making this process easier, so thank you for bearing with us!

Getting here

Our theatre is in Òran Mór, at the corner of Byres Road and Great Western Road.

Òran Mór, Top of Byres Road, G12 8QX

The nearest Subway station is Hillhead which is a 5-minute walk up Byres Road. The nearest train station is Partick, which is a 25-minute walk but also provides Subway access two stops from Hillhead. Please note that Hillhead is not accessible by wheelchair.

Nearby bus stops service the 6, 6A, 6B, 8, 82, 90, 189, 190, and N6 routes.

Òran Mór does not have its own carpark. There is pay and display street parking along Byres Road and Great Western Road. There is a disabled bay across the road, slightly down the side of the Botanic Gardens, on Queen Margaret Drive, and two next to the library on Byres Road, about 2 minutes’ walk away. Lilybank Pay and Display car park is situated behind Hillhead Subway Station, and Kelvinbridge Subway Park and Ride is 15 minutes’ walk or one stop on the Subway. Please note that we are in a very busy area of the West End, and it may be difficult to find parking, so public transport is recommended where possible.

Physical Access

Our theatre is situated on Level 0 of Òran Mór and Fonn Mór, and there is step-free access from Fonn Mór on Great Western Road. Within Fonn Mór you can find lift access at Level 1, straight ahead of the entrance. The lift can also be used to access Level 2 where you can find the Box Office in the Òran Mór lobby, and accessible toilets. There are further accessible toilets in the venue on Level 0, on the left of the stairs when you are looking to go up.

There are three steps up to the bar inside the venue, but the rest of the floor is the same level you come in.

Early access to the venue is available for those with mobility issues from 12pm. We don’t have full control over the building and are therefore unable to guarantee that Fonn Mór will be open to the public at this time, so please contact us in advance and we can make sure you’re looked after. You can email us at info@playpiepint.com or call us on 0141 357 6208; please make sure to get a response from us to confirm we have noted and understood any requests.

Guide and hearing dogs are welcome, and we operate a babes-in-arms policy.

If you are unable to get in touch with one of our team members for information or assistance with access at the venue, please contact Òran Mór by calling 0141 357 6210 or e-mailing info@oran-mor.co.uk.

Seating

We have wooden gold-painted seats with blue cushion pads. They are 40cm wide and 42cm deep and set between 2-5cm apart in rows for each performance. If these seats aren’t suitable please contact us in advance and we will try to find a suitable solution for you.

We are able to accommodate wheelchairs easily as our seats are light and moveable. Please contact us for more information or for any assistance.

Pies & Pints

A pie and a pint are included in your ticket. When you enter the Òran Mór, head to the back of the pub to receive your pie and pint tokens, which you will then be able to redeem in the venue on Level 0. Ask a staff member if you are unsure about how this works – we will be happy to help!

Please contact us at least 24 hours in advance to request a Gluten Free option by calling 0141 357 6200 or emailing info@playpiepint.com; make sure to get a response from us to confirm we have noted and understood any requests. We work Monday-Saturday; please get in touch by Friday afternoon for Monday performances.

Pies

Our Scotch Pies are produced in Scotland and made with beef. They contain wheat and soya.

Our vegan sausage rolls provide a meat free alternative. These are made with mushroom, and the ingredients include wheat, oat, and onions.

Vegan gravy is provided in jugs, along with packets of ketchup and brown sauce.

Cutlery and napkins are available nearby. Please dispose of waste in the bins provided, and place empty plates and used cutlery on the metal trolley.

If you require more detail about the ingredients in either the Scotch Pie or Vegan Sausage Roll, please feel free to get in touch.

Pints

Your pint token entitles you to one of the following…

A pint or half pint of:
Tennent’s (4.0%)
Caledonian Best (3.2%)
Magners Original (4.5%)
Menabrea Alcohol Free (0.0%)

A 125ml Glass of:

Rose wine

With £1.50 supplement:
A pint of Guinness (4.2%)

Performances

Our plays last no more than one hour, with a cast of between 1 and 4 performers.

Generally we recommend an audience age limit of 14+.

When necessary, we provide content warnings – these may be to do with specific storylines or language but might also relate to lights or sound. We also print this information (spoiler free!) in our paper programmes available throughout the show’s run. It’s unlikely that we’re able to cover everything so please get in touch if you want to be made aware of any specific elements of stories or production we may not have listed. You can email us on info@playpiepint.com, call on 0141 357 6211, or message us on social media: @playpiepint.

We are working on providing more integrated BSL performances in our programme. We plan to incorporate at least two of these in our Spring 2024 season.

Given the nature of our programme, it is difficult for us to schedule Relaxed Performances. Please let us know if this is something you would like to see in future by contacting us at info@playpiepint.com

PPP intends to introduce a loop system to our venue for use during our performances. Unfortunately, one is not currently available at this time.

In the next two years, we plan to introduce Audio Described performances and Touch Tours. We apologise that these are not currently available.

BSL integrated performances

For Autumn 2024, we will have two British Sign Language Integrated performances.

The Wolves at The DoorSat 21 Sep, 1pm

Ghost Off!Sat 2 Nov, 1pm

There is not a separate ticket option for this, please just book a standard or student option.

Deaf to Front policy: We will reserve seating at the front so d/Deaf and/or hard-of-hearing audience members can enjoy an unobstructed view of the stage and interpreter. Please email info@playpiepint.com in advance if you intend on using this so we can put on additional reserved seating if there is sufficient demand.

Co-presentations

Some of our plays travel to different destinations. You may have seen a PPP production at The Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh, The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen, The Gaeity in Ayr, or somewhere else!

Our co-presenters make different choices and offer different access routes, including variations in pies and pints. If you have any queries about these, please contact the venue directly.

If there is anything on this page about which you are unsure, or if you would like to ask questions or provide feedback, please don’t hesitate to contact us via email at info@playpiepint.com. You can also call the Box Office on 0141 357 6200, or find us on social media: @playpiepint
