Autumn/Winter 2016 Season Announced
We are delighted to announce our 25th season of PPP at Òran Mór. The continued appetite for new plays from our audience, from the writers, actors and creative team is a wonder to behold and a testament to the enduring appeal of live theatre. The Òran Mór pub offers a unique experience for theatre goers and we hope to continue this now legendary tradition with a line up of fantastic new work.
This season we are offering an exciting variety of plays from new and established writers covering a wide range of genre from comedy and biography to fantasy and political satire plus a brand new Chekov adaptation. Our writers have tackled subjects including Dolly Sinatra (Frank’s maw), Syd Barrett (of Pink Floyd), a new take on Dr Johnson in the Western Isles, as well as contemporary issues of loneliness and mental health. We are also reviving a fine play from our very first season, On the Sidelines, as a tribute to the late Willie McIlvanney who died last year.
The popularity of the PPP formula continues to spread and this season we are working with the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh, the Lemon Tree, Aberdeen and Sherman Cymru theatre in Wales.
We hope to continue to be – “ A magnificent and completely unexpected explosion of freewheeling theatrical creativity in Scotland” (Critics Awards Theatre Scotland) and look forward to welcoming you into the friendliest pub in the country for some reasonably priced theatre, a pie and a pint, whether it be your first time in the venue or an old friend returning for more.
