Frankie Vaughan, singer and movie star was at the height of his fame and popularity when he visited Easterhouse in the late 1960’s. He mediated between police and gang leaders to bring about a knife amnesty that set into motion a process of change for the beleaguered housing estate. Set in the Barrowlands Ballroom, Mr Moonlight is how Frankie’s life-long affinity for Glasgow and its people might have come about.
KIM MILLAR is a writer and storyliner who has worked on Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Waterloo Road, Casualty, Doctors, River City as well as Dumping Ground and Eve for CBBC. This is her third play for Òran Mór.
APRIL CHAMBERLAIN started working in theatre at Wildcat Stage Productions where she was General Manager. She went on to work in television production, and was co-founder and Managing Director of The Comedy Unit, an award winning TV and radio production company. Until 2020, April was joint Artistic Director of A Play, A Pie and A Pint. She is chair of the Citizens’ Theatre. Thanks to COVID, this will be the third time we've tried to bring Mr Moonlight to the stage, and hopefully it will be 3rd time lucky!
