Open Call Casting Workshop

Thu 13th January 2022

Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd February 2022

In collaboration with Scottish Casting Workshop we will be hosting open call auditions for prospective performers who would like to be considered for A Play, a Pie and a Pint productions.

Over the two days we will run six sessions, each session lasting 2 hours.  The sessions will be lead by Neil John Gibson from Scottish Casting Workshop, and will be attended by the PPP team and freelance directors who are working for PPP over the coming season/s.

Workshops will adhere to the latest government Covid guidance, and will have a maximum capacity of 14.  We encourage everyone attending to take a lateral flow test at the beginning of each day.

We are particularly keen to hear from performers:

  • that graduated from drama training in the year 2020 or 2021
  • that haven’t worked with us before, or haven’t worked for PPP in the past 3 years
  • that identify as a person of the global majority *
  • that identify as d/deaf disabled**

To be considered for audition please follow this link and complete this Google Form before Monday 24th January at 10am. You will be contacted by the team on Weds 26th January to confirm if you have been selected.  Applications will be considered by the PPP team prioritising the groups listed above.

Applicants must be 18 years or older.

We anticipate a high volume of applicants and unfortunately won’t be able to offer feedback on application or to see everyone, but plan to hold further auditions later in the year.

Participants will be asked to participate in a 2 hour group workshop with an opportunity to present scenes of dialogue as part of the session.

Please wear clothes you are comfortable to move in.

You will receive a duologue script at least 5 days before the workshop with a part to learn.  So we can see you at your best please try to be off book.

There will be a 30 minute group warm up session then the group will be split into pairs to perform the duologues together in the space.

This session will be 14 actors playing together in the room, have fun and follow your impulses.

*including those from African and Caribbean diaspora, Latinx, the East Asian diaspora, the South East Asian Diaspora, from the South Asian Diaspora, West Asian (includes Middle East) Diaspora, indigenous people, bi-racial/ mixed heritage, or who also self-identify as a Person of Colour or Black, we may use Global Majority to refer to people from these identities.

** Please submit a disability rider with your application – we want to ensure that you have what you need. For example, if you require a BSL interpreter we will organise this in advance.

Tuesday 1st

Session 1: 10 – 12

Session 2: 12.30 – 2.30

Session 3: 3.45 – 5.45

Wednesday 2nd

Session 4: 10 – 12

Session 5: 12.30 – 2.30

Session 6: 3.45 – 5.45

We appreciate that not everyone can attend these dates and plan to hold further auditions later in the year – this is not the only opportunity to audition for us.  In the current climate and with a new rehearsal space that we are just getting used to, it may be that we can’t accommodate everyone within these sessions due to availability, space and access.  We will endeavour to see as many people as possible, but we may need to see some candidates another time.
