The Merry Wives of The Wyndford

A rip-roaring all-women, all-Glasgow update on Shakespeare’s riotous comedy about respect, trust and love, entirely performed by three actors and a wheelie bin.

In Maryhill, a perennially skint con-man tries out a romantic fraud on two ultra-smart Wyndford wimmin but ends up getting thoroughly bamboozled himself!

LINDA DUNCAN MCLAUGHLIN is a playwright and screenwriter, currently writing regularly for BBC Scotland’s River City. She’s also an actor and has performed in a number of shows at Oran Mor, and her first play, Descent, actually started its award-winning run here – so she’s doubly delighted to be bringing her latest offering to the Spring 2023 season of A Play, A Pie and A Pint.

KEN ALEXANDER is a director whose recent work includes Sleeping Beauty co-written with Fraser Boyle (Gaiety Theatre, Ayr), Break My Windows by David Gerow (‘A Play, A Pie and A Pint’ at Oran Mor/Traverse Theatre), the Broadway musical Little Women (Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland at Assembly Rooms) and A Doll’s House, Part 2 by Lucas Hnath (Vienna’s English Theatre).  Other work includes a revival of Aye, Elvis by Morna Young (Traverse/MultiStory/Gilded Balloon), the award-winning premiere of Peter Arnott’s The Signalman for A Play, A Pie and A Pint (Oran Mor/Traverse Theatre and Perth Theatre/Raw Material Arts on tour).
